Speakers Corner

You have probably heard about the Speakers Corner in Hyde Park -London. You may also know that it is a symbol for free discussion and debate.

But, did you know that you can find other speaker corners around England and even in Australia and Malasya?

Although most of the regular speakers are not famous people, it was frequented by Karl Marx, Vladimir Lenin, George Orwell…

If you ever go to London, take a nice walk around Hyde Park and do not miss that special corner!

Have you already been there? Remember that you can write a comment on the article and practise your English.

Talking about “e-mail”

This morning we talked about “e-mail” in class. I have decided to write a post on the subject – since telling your e-mail is going to be as frequent as telling your telephone number!

The symbol ” – ” can be read as a “dash or hyphen”.

The symbol ” _ ” is read  “underscore”

The symbol ” @ ” is read “at”

The ” . ” is read “dot”

For example,

macarena_smith@hotmail.com

should be read: macarena underscore smith at hotmail dot com

I hope this is clear!

Bye!

Merry Christmas!

Remember that Christmas is also spelled Xma’s. As we all know, Christmas or Xma’s Day is the annual commemoration of the birth of Jesus Christ.

I wish you a Merry Christmas and a happy New Year! -with another video:
