The Joy of Dancing
Let’s forget this is an English teaching blog for a while. This video from Matt Harding shows us the plain truth: The world is full of good people who are always ready to start dancing when they hear the simple beating of a rythm. Dance is in our souls, and when we take out our inner child and start moving, jumping and swinging to the rythm of music, we take the best of ourselves. This is just a tribute from a simple language teacher, to all those teachers of the most important language across boundaries: Dance

How do you feel after watching this video? Do you feel like dancing? Just do it!!!!
How many cities has Matt visited? Guess what language is used in the majority of them
If I were a boy

Here you have the lyrics of the song we worked on in class. Have a look and answer these two questions:
1) Do you think the song is sexist? Why? Why not?
2) Girls, what woud you do if you were a boy? Write a conditional sentence
Boys, what would you do if you were a girl? Write a conditional sentence
If I were a Boy
By Beyoncé
If I were a boy even just for a day
I’d roll out of bed in the morning
And throw on what I wanted
And go drink beer with the guys
And chase after girls
I’d kick it with who I wanted
And I’d never get confronted for it
‘Cause they stick up for me
If I were a boy
I think I could understand
How it feels to love a girl
I swear I’d be a better man
I’d listen to her
‘Cause I know how it hurts
When you lose the one you wanted
‘Cause he’s taking you for granted
And everything you had got destroyed
If I were a boy
I would turn off my phone
Tell everyone it’s broken
So they’d think that I was sleeping alone
I’d put myself first
And make the rules as I go
‘Cause I know that she’d be faithful
Waiting for me to come home, to come home
If I were a boy
I think I could understand
How it feels to love a girl
I swear I’d be a better man
I’d listen to her
‘Cause I know how it hurts
When you lose the one you wanted
‘Cause he’s taking you for granted
And everything you had got destroyed
It’s a little too late for you to come back
Say it’s just a mistake
Think I’d forgive you like that
If you thought I would wait for you
You thought wrong
But you’re just a boy
You don’t understand
And you don’t understand, oh
How it feels to love a girl
Someday you wish you were a better man
You don’t listen to her
You don’t care how it hurts
Until you lose the one you wanted
‘Cause you’re taking her for granted
And everything you had got destroyed
But you’re just a boy

Here there is a link to create your own films. You have to work in groups of 5 or 6 and make a film using the past tenses we have seen in class (simple past and past continuous). Try it and send it to my email address: lmingue2@xtec.cat I will publish the best in the blog.

HALLOWEEN
Do you want to know the origins and history of this special day? I worked a bit on that in class with some of you, but it deserves more time. Read the articles first and then watch the videos to understand them better. I think it is very interesting!!! The first video is a bit long and would be more apropriate for the students of 2nd batxillerat, but everydoby is invited! HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!!

IRREGULAR verbs list
Here you have the list I promised. You will see 5 columns instead of 3, which I think is better for you to avoid confusion with other tenses (gerund, present simple).
Student of 3rd ESO: you can fill in the gaps of the list you have in Workbook page 127, but you still have to look up the meaning in the dictionary for the exam we will do soon!
Students 2n Batx: it will be good for you as well to revise, although I know many of you already know it, don’t you?
