Ens fem preguntes

Nou projecte, noves aventures

OUR BOARD GAMES

We prepared our board games, each team had to design their board games. We had to write the instructions of the board game, make the board,… It was very easy to prepare the board game.

It was very funny. Then we played the board games of our classmates. It was great fun. There were very spectacular games.

What was it like to do a project in English?

IMG_20151218_121007

First it was a little bit weird the idea of having to do a Project in English but after some days of “practice”, we got the hang of it. Then most of us almost always talked in English during the class. The project was about the history of the Earth from Prehistory to Modern Age, everything in English and at the end of the project we had to build the final product, which was a board game for school library. After some days of starting this project the teachers introduced us to the “Pizza Challenge”. Which consists on, if the whole class speaks in English they gave us a pizza slice (every day), they needed to give us 8 slices for them to buy a pizza for the whole class and at the end of the first term we were able to eat some delicious pizza made in our school.

Are we still Roman?

The Romans invented a lot of things and some of them are still used today.

They spoke Latin, a language of which many of our current languages come from like Catalan, Spanish, French… Latin is no longer spoken,  now is considered a dead language.

They also created the Christianity, one of the most followed religions in the world. At the begining, Romans had many gods, but later Jesus began to have followers. Some of them were killed, but in the end, Christianity became the official religion in Rome.

They also invented the arch and materials such as cement and bricks. They also built many bridges and roads and the first public water system with aqueducts and sawage.

Romans had laws too. Some of their laws are still used today; laws are rights and obligations that we have to obey.

Romans conquered many cities, like Tarraco (Tarragona) and Barcino (Barcelona).

They had a calendar, too. At the begining it had nine months and later twelve months.

Let’s make a mummy

In the last project, we studied how to make a mummy. We played a videogame that explained it very well. The process was:
1. The brain and the internal organs were taken out and put in jars called canopy jars.
2. The body was covered with salt called natron to dry it out.
3. After 40 days, the body was stuffed with linen, natron, herbs and spices.
4. The body was coated in oil and resin.
5. The body was wrapped with bandages. Lucky amulets were added.
6. The mask was put on the body.mummy
7. After 70 days, the funeral procession took place and the body was placed in a burial

chamber.

This activity was great fun and we learned a lot!

HIEROGLYPHS ACTIVITY

This month we did a very interesting activity. This activity consisted in finding out the meaning of a text. The text was written with Hieroglyphs, which is the name of the type of writing during the ancient Egypt.

First, we had to decipher the text by using a code. At the beginning, it was quite difficult because we had to decipher letter by letter and it was quite boring, but when we did it lots of times, we remembered the code, so it was easier.
Then when the textes were deciphered we had to order it.

It was a very fun activity and really interesting

FAMILIES IN EGYPT

The families in Egypt were bigger than the families we have today, the had more than one child.
They had slaves and servants in rich families.
The father ruled in the families.
Egyptian families had only one bedroom and they had to share it.
