MY PROJECT’S YEAR

I really enjoyed this year in the high school both for the funniest times with my friends, like for the all we learnt in projects class.

I love the projects class, our teachers and his way of teaching.

In my first day I was very nervious because I didn’t know many people and I didn’t know very well  what is being called projects. And now, I felt very well, in this year I’ll have done a lot of different friends of all the courses and I really enjoyed everything.

I want return to learn more!

Our Restaurant :)

This week we are going to engage our restaurant.
This activity is cool and very interesting, because we are going to design the logo, the name, the dishes, the space of the restaurant… And the most important!!!, the kind of restaurant that we want to do: Italian, chinese, Japaneese cousine…
We have to do in 2 weeks, so… We need to hurry up!!!!

PURE SUBSTANCES, MIXTURES AND SALT

This week we have started studying the classification of matter:

A Pure substance is made up of only one substance and a Mixture is made up of more than one substance. Pure substances can be Elements or Compounds, an Element is the simplest form of matter (oxigen or hidrogen) and a Compound is a combination of two or more elements (salt or sugar). Mixtures can be Homogeneous mixtures or Heterogeneous mixtures, a Homogeneous mixture is a mixture that you cannot distiguish the different substances but in a Heterogeneous mixture you can distinguish the different substances. A example of a Homogeneous mixture is a solution (vinegar), where you find a solute and a solvent. And two examples of a Heterogeneous mixture are Suspensions (mustard) and Colloids (mayonnaise). You distinguish the solution, the suspension and the colloid because of the size of its molecules: solutions have tiny molecules, colloids have medium molecules and suspensions have giant molecules.

In this topic we also have studied the salt:

Common salt is also known as Sodium Chloride. Its chemical formula is Nacl because Sodium is Na and Chlorine is Cl. When you put some salt into water, the +Na and the -Cl part of the salt are separated, the +Na join with a negative atom of water and the -Cl join with a positive atom of water.

HOW DO YOU CALCULATE THE DENSITY OF AN OBJECT?

This week we have learn how to calculate the density of an object.

To lern this we did two experiments: eventually all things fall into place and dense and light food.

  1. EVENTUALLY ALL THINGS FALL INTO PLACE.

METHODS

First we pour syrup, oil and alcohol in a beaker. Then we immerse a grape, a lentil, a cork, a fig, a peanut and a metal nut in the beaker to see in which layer each object fall. To take the objects out we use the tongs and we wrie the results and the conclusions in a paper.

CONCLUSIONS AND RESULTS

Oil is more dense than alcohol because it is in the middle, but is lighter than syrup, so syrup is in the bottom and it is the most dense.                                                                                                     A peanut and a cork are lighter than alcohol becuse they float.                                                           A metal nut is more dense than syrup because it goes to the bottom.                                                 A grape, a lentil and a fig are more dense than oil but are lighter than syrup because they go to the bottom.

  II.   DENSE AND LIGHT FOODS

solids                                                                                                                                                                 -To calculate the determine mass we put the objects on the scale and we weight it.                        -To calculate the determine volume we fill up the cylinder jar of water and then, throw the objects inside. The quantity rises the volume.

Then we substract the both results.                                                                                   -To calculate the determine volume we fill up the cylinder jar of water and then, throw the objects inside. gas                                                                                                                                                                       -To calculate the determine mass we put it in a container and then we weight it.                              -To calculate the determine volume we have to know the volume of its container, because the volume of gas is the volume of its container.

THE DENSITY                                                                                                                                                    To calculate the density of a matter we take the results and divide the mass by the volume.

CONCLUSIONS AND RESULTS

In solids the moleculas have strong bonds so they have more matter in less space.

Preparant-nos per a l’examen de manera divertida :)

Aquesta setmana hem repassat per a l’examen que ja s’apropa i per això hem jugat al joc dels “5 regnes”.

El joc era semblant al trivial. Primer tiràvem un dau i movíem la nostra peça en el tauler, depenent del color que tocava era un regne o un altre i després en grups havíem de respondre diverses preguntes sobre aquell regne. Si aconseguies tres mini-targetes te les canviaven  per una de gran del mateix regne, i això volia dir que anaves bé respecte aquell tema. Però també podies aconseguir una targeta gran caient en una casella especial.

Ha estat una activitat útil per a estudiar, per entendre’ns més bé entre el nostre grup… I molt divertida.

English Week

Dilluns 4 de maig

Avui ha estat el nostre primer dia de la English Week. Una mica més de les 8:30 hem sortit en direcció a Santa Susanna. Ha estat un viatge traquil però a les 11:30 quan hem arribat ens hem posat una mica nerviosos per saber com ens distribuiríem en les habitacions i quines activitats faríem. La primera cosa que hem fet és instal.lar-nos en els bungalows i conèixer l’entorn i els monitors. Sempre ens parlen en anglès però no tenim problemes per entendre’ls. Deseguida s’ha fet l’hora de dinar i hem anat al menjador. A la tarda hem acabat de conèixer l’entorn i hem fet sketches i role plays. Voliem banyar-nos a la piscina però s’ha ennuvolat i no hem pogut anar. Així que ens hem quedat pels bungalows, jugant al pingpong i escriving el diary. Després de sopar una estoneta de disco però la veritat és que estem morts i aviat a dormir!!!!!

Dimarts 5 de maig

Després d’un bon esmorzar, avui hem fet problem solving i beach games. A les fotos veureu lo bé que ens ho hem passat. I hem rigut molt quan Amadeu ens buscava i no ens trobava!!!! A l’hora del descans ha sortit una mica el sol i hem anat a la piscina a remullar-nos encara que deseguida s’ha tapat!

A la tarda  songs i dance!!!! Tots hem hagut de ballar!!!! Així que apart d’anglès també estem aprenent “altres” coses. També ens han explicat teoria pels jocs d’aventures de demà i hem fet més jocs pel camping. A les 6, hora de descansar una mica hem tornat a anar a la piscina perquè ens ho passem molt bé i així fem temps fins l’hora de sopar.

Avui hi havia partit i molts l’han anat a veure. Això ha fet que la disco comencès més tard.  Algunes noies s’ho han passat d’allò més bé. Però definitivament, a molts nois no els agrada gaire i no han ballat gens ni mica!!!! A les 12 ja tots estaven ben dormidet! Ha estat un dia esgotador.

Dimecres 6 de maig

Avui ha estat un dia ple d’aventures. Al matí ens han fet uan classe teòrica sobre hípica i els esports d’aventura i hem tornat a fer molts jocs.

A la tarda hem anat en autocar a un parc on hi havia tirolina, rocòdrom i un munt d’esports d’aventura per fer. Ens ho hem pasat superbé.

A la nit el partit del Barça i la disco!!! Els nens continuen sense ballar pe`ro la Pilar i la Inma ho aconseguiran al final i TOTS ballaran!!!!

Dijous 7 de  maig

Estem morts!! No hem parat avui! Tot el matí a la platja. Ens han donat totes les instruccions i ens hem hagut de posar tot el que era necessari per la nostra seguretat. Primer hem anat kayak al mar i després un partidet de voley platja! A la tarda hem montat a cavall. Hem fet una excursió pels voltants i ens han ensenyat a netejar i endreçar el cavall.

Divendres 8 de maig

Avui ha estat un dia tris!! Era el nostre darrer dia i ens havíem d’acomiadar dels nostres monitors. Ens han fet un comiat molt xulo amb un certificat i tot!!!!

Després de dinar, l’autocar ens ha dut a Lleida. Ha estat un viatge silenciós. Molts dormien i altres recordaven totes les aventures que hem viscut aquests dies que, de ben segur, no oblidarem mai!!!!

Project In Groups

In a project group work is very important. If we don’t work in groups, the project does not work well. There are best results when working in groups.

Working in groups is more fun. It is easier to work in groups because all the people of the group can contribute ideas. Working in groups is faster.

In every group there are different forms to organize the work: For example, in my group every person does the work that is easier for him or her or that he or she likes, …

Last Tuesday, we reflected on the way we work in groups in class. We want to learn how to work in groups better.

A GOOD FILM FOR OUR PROJECT

Last monday all the 1st ESO students of Joan Oró went to the “Rambla” cinema to watch a film. It’s called “Energía 3D”. The film was about love, science and technology. Its language was catalan because we had to understand its message and enjoy it. This film was related with the project we are working (Sustainable Energy For Everybody). It was amazing because we saw it on 3D!!!

 

Plot:                                                                                                                                                          

Alex is in love with Maria and Maria is in love with Alex but they are very different. Maria likes to preserve  the Nature and wants to promote renewable energies. On the other hand, Alex likes motorbikes, he doesn’t take care of the environment and he doesn’t think what can occur in the future if we don’t do little and basically things for the nature. For example: “Turn off the light”, “Turn off the water tap when you are washing your theet”… The teenagers have some love problems that are frequent between them.

As Alex loves Maria, he changes his attitude and he gives a present to Maria to solve their loves problems: he takes lots of candles and he lights them instead of turning on the lights. Finally, Maria makes Alex to take care of the nature and think in the future.

I recommend a lot this film because you enjoy it and at the same time you learn!!! These are my favourite films!!!
