ACTIVITY THAT PROMOTES PLURILINGUALISM
Based on the “Lesson plans for primary school” to promote Plurilingualism, I’ve chosen the lesson plan 1 (My self-portrait) but I’ve modified it a little bit thinking on the school possibilities that we have.
In this lesson plan the pupils prepare an Avatar about themselves to show their partners. (it would work with their mobility partners in case they had some)
- example of Voki “Avatar”
EXPERIENCES: (Pupils)
– Think about their own daily lives
– Describe themselves
– Compare their daily lives with other people in the class
TARGETED COMPETENCES: (Pupils)
– can better understand their own cultural identity
– can perceive differences and similarities in different aspects of social life
– can compare features of culture (perceive the cultural proximity/distance)
– can deal with cultural diversity in the classroom
– can write very short pieces of text; isolated words and very short, basic sentences
PROCEDURE:
- Before:
The teacher prepares a voki about him/herself as an example, and presents it to the class.
- During:
Later children will prepare a voki about themselves. It will include basic information like:
- Name/age
- Town where I live
- Where do I come from
- Languages I do speak
- Favourite dish from my country
- Favourite activity to do
- Favourite festivity from my country
The teacher links the Vokis on the school blog, and the students will have to try to recognize each student by listening their descriptions. They also can make some questions to have a better guess, after a few days.
- After:
They Add the students name to a big world’s map to show where do they come from.
FINAL PRODUCT FOR THE PORTFOLIO:
