EVS is also an option!

evs As we all heard last Friday when Gemma told us about EVS, European Voluntary Service is also a very special option to learn a foreign language and many other things. If you want to find some more information about this service, go to Secretaria General de Joventut or have a look here. Remember you need to be older than 18 to apply for this.

By the way, Gemma, thank you so much for your interesting conference, your time and your help.

It was great having you there! Somriure

tears in heaven

These are the words of the song we have heard in class recently. As you know, it was written and composed by Eric Clapton under very sad circumstances.

If you want to find out some more about this singer, here you are some links to his webpage and to wikipedia.

By the way, Clapton wrote about his sadness and his son, if you had to sing a song, what would you sing about???

TEARS IN HEAVEN

Would you know my name
If I saw you in heaven
Will it be the same
If I saw you in heaven
I must be strong, and carry on
Cause I know I don’t belong
Here in heaven

Would you hold my hand
If I saw you in heaven
Would you help me stand
If I saw you in heaven
I’ll find my way, through night and day
Cause I know I just can’t stay
Here in heaven

Time can bring you down
Time can bend your knee
Time can break your heart
Have you begging please
Begging please

(instrumental)

Beyond the door
There’s peace I’m sure.
And I know there’ll be no more…
Tears in heaven

Would you know my name
If I saw you in heaven
Will it be the same
If I saw you in heaven
I must be strong, and carry on
Cause I know I don’t belong
Here in heaven

Cause I know I don’t belong
Here in heaven

Learning English abroad

Have you ever thought of learning English abroad?Indec?slondon 2007 ies guinovarda

Spending some time in any English speaking country may be a great way of learning the language and an unforgettable experience!

There are different possibilities:

You may go there and study the language in a school, do a course and other activities, you could live with a family or stay in residential accomodation; this is usually great fun, but it isn’t cheap.

There are, however, grants (beques) given by the Departament d’Educació de la Generalitat that might make these summer courses available to candidates. When the application time comes, you can have some more information on their website.

IMPORTANT: THERE IS SOME NEW INFORMATION, CLICK HERE!

There are also grants for university students that may be interesting in the future, have a look if you like. They are given by the Spanish Education Ministry (MEC)

To find webs and e-mail addresses search for “summer English courses in UK” “cursos verano Inglaterra” or something similar in google, yahoo or any other and you will see plenty of schools and organizations that may be interesting to you.

A couple of examples are:

Some other people prefer not to take classes and work instead; obviously, the jobs you may get there in the summer are not very good (babysitting or working in restaurants or hotels are the most popular options, though there may be others…) but they make it possible to stay there for a time without spending too much money.

To find more information try searching “summer jobs in UK” or “work and learn English”, good luck!

A third choice could be just travelling around the country and get in touch with the “natives”. It could get quite expensive and you have to be willing to meet people spontaneously. An interesting option would be travelling by train with an interrail ticket, a great adventure! here you have a link!

If you are really interested in travelling to any English speaking country, come to my real office and talk to me, I’ll help you as much as I can.Somriure

See you!!!!!!

“Old Time” Music

ded grandad

As you may remember (look at the photo at the end if you don’t), we had a special activity on 1st February. We could hear and dance to the rythm of the music played by Ded Grandads.

We all could enjoy of the typical Appalachian music, some blues and other kinds of traditional American music.

If you want to have a look at their web or find out more about this group, click here… (you can have the information in English and Spanish)
