Aquesta setmana ens ha visitat l’Esther Mas, una junedenca que fa nou anys que viu i treballa a Dublin, Irlanda. Ha parlat en anglès als nens i nenes de 2n sobre dos tipus d’éssers fantàstics irlandesos: les fades i els leprechauns. Cada cop que als nens irlandesos els cau una dent reben la visita de la fada de les dents, que els deixa un petit present o diners a canvi de la dent. També hem conegut als leprechauns, uns homenets verds que, segons conta la llegenda, guarden una olla d’or al final de l’arc iris. Agraïm a l’Esther la seva interessant xerrada i esperem que ens torni a visitar ben aviat i ens expliqui més coses sobre Irlanda.
This week Esther Mas, a young woman from Juneda who has lived in Ireland for nine years, came to our school to tell children in Year 2 about two types of Irish magical creatures: fairies and leprechauns. When Irish children lose one of their baby teeth, they should place it underneath their pillow and the tooth fairy will visit while they sleep, replacing the lost tooth with a small payment. We also met leprechauns. According to the legend, they are tiny green men who hide a big pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. We would like to thank Esther for her interesting speech and we are looking forward to seeing her again at school and learning more facts about Ireland.
