THE_MOST_RELEVANT_ PLAYS_OF_ SHAKESPEARE

Hi there!
I know. It was a really hard film. Loads of ethical issues within, right.
The Guardian writes “the film touches on the chief issues in Africa – post-colonial instability, tribal warfare, commercial exploitation, the brutal conscription and indoctrination of boy soldiers (…). Danny, as ruthless a killer as the revolutionaries, represents cynicism, shallow realism and the instinct and skill to survive. Gentle, idealistic Solomon stands for hope, peaceful resolution, the warmth of family life; his ambition is to see his son become a doctor. Maddy is there to be instructed, to have her liberal pieties tested and to be one of the agencies through which Danny is redeemed.”

Who’s the character you enjoyed the most? Was it Danny, Leonardo Dicaprio? Was it Solomon, Djimon Hounsou? Or was it Jennifer Connelly? What do you think about commercial exploitation? And about boy soldiers? Write your opinion about one of these issues in your own words.

Here you have some tips to design your youtube video ARGUING FOR AND AGAINST THINGS. It’s group work, so take into account that you’ll have to create a dialogue.
1. Make sure you understand how to form the PASSIVE VOICE.

It is said that… (present passive); new ways energy will be created in ten years (future passive) and some goods were made by people working in bad conditions.

Hope you enjoyed Stigmata, class.
According the the film, the discovery of the Gospel of St. Thomas is believed to be the close to the actual words of Jesus telling his disciples that the Kingdom of God is in all of us and not confined to churches.

Did you like it? Is it your type of film? Write your personal opinion below. Think about: characters’ performance, special effects, the plot, the topic of faith, the role of the Catholic Church at present, the ending… Do you think exorcisms exist?
Just about to finish unit 1 I just wanted you to reflect on teenagers that have changed the world. Here there is the story of Malala Yousafzai, a Pakistani activist for female education, who stood up to the Taliban and nearly died for the cause.
