Escolta’m (Listen to me). Santa Creu School. Anglesola. Spain.

This school year, Santa Creu School has started a new programme named “Escolta’m” (Listen to me). It is a programme included in the activities that the school is implementing  towards Social-Emocional Learning.

The main aims of this programme are:

  1. To build a school project in which the person becomes the centre of the learning process in all the aspects.
  2. To improve the climate in the classroom and in the school.
  3.  To improve the learning process of all the students.

The project consists of individual or small group tutorship sessions. Every week, a small group of three pupils have some time to be with their tutor in the “Escolta’m” Corner. There, they can talk about whatever they want. In the corner there is an “Emotional box” too, with a “calm bottle”, a relaxing ball, a relaxing pillow, soft blankets, etc. to make children feel comfortable.

This activity strengthen the relationship between the teacher and the pupils and allow them to express their emotions and feelings in a calmed and friendly atmosphere. Moreover, the pupils feel that they are important for the teacher and that he o she listens to them with interest.

Teachers followed a training by  ICE (Institutes of Science Education) from the University of Lleida (UdL).
