Wonder tells the history of a child called August, who lives a non common reality.
He was born with the deformed face. Since then he has suffered many surgery. He lives happily with his parents and an older a totally healthy sister. Although his parents had been strongly care, about him and her mother has taken charge of his education, one day, they decided August must carry on his education at the school. Their parents wanted August was able to be in a real life, as any ten years child, despite being difficult at the beginning.
At first, August felt afraid to go school; because of comments, jokes, teasing children could say to him. He meet great friends, Jack and Summer, who will be very close to August and will be a big support to him in front of the bad treat of other children, because of their appearance. The read shows as August as a brave child who understands people look at him scared o uncomfortable, but he don’t get angry. And the end he manages to have a good relationship with the children of the school.
One thing interesting from de book, is that the book was wrote in the first person but, not only form August, from Via, the August’ sister, Julius, the Via’s boyfriend,…. and that aspect do that the description of the situation, the point of the reader, become more real, full of different emotions and more objective.
I like the character of Via, because it is a protective with August, but he feels the consequence to be absolutely focus in care of August, because when he born she was a little child and her parents don’t pay all the attention that she needed.
For me to read the book has been hard. But I recommend it, because it teaches people don’t judge people for the appearance, the most important is to now the real personality.
