Scratch Tips – Removing backgrounds from images
Hi everyone,
You’re doing a fantastic job, and we’re very happy to see how the blog grows and to be hearing from the videoconferences that have taken place.
As you know, today is the deadline for stage 3 (which has already been extended by a week), and on Monday we will start stage 4.
So right now your teams should be finishing their researches and publishing their “findings” on the blog. In addition you should have held (or at least arranged) the videoconference between your class and your partner’s class.
Stage 4 is the real beginning of the co-creation. It will last until the Christmas/Winter break (then we will do a stop till mid January). Stage 4 basically consists of two tasks: thinking about the digital stories (making a small script or storyboard) and designing the characters and backgrounds of these stories. In the dashboard of the platform both tasks are explained and there are some materials and tutorials that can be useful. Don’t hesitate to ask us any questions you have, and to share in the forum anything you want.
Although stage 4 still doesn’t require the use of Scratch, it’s possible that some of you will already start using it to create characters and scenarios. We’ll write an email to each school-pair explaining how we’re going to manage the work with Scratch (we’ve created “classes”, “studios” and “accounts” for the teams). We’ll explain this in detail in the emails we are going to send you.
Remember to send us visual material of your kids participating in the project, this way we can illustrate what is happening.
Also remember to press the “step done” buttons in the dashboard stages, each time you finish them. In this way we can follow the progress of all the schools and we know when someone is stuck in some step and needs help.
We repeat that we are very happy with how everything is going, congratulations on your work so far!
Best regards,
GlobalChangemakers Team

Hi everyone,
We hope everything is going well!
The kidblog is beginning to be very full of reflections on sustainability, some of them very original. Very good work! Remember that it is interesting that kids have time to see/read contributions from other teams and countries, and that they can leave some constructive comments. As you know due to the large number of teams we had to create a second blog, which since it has few users has not received any comments. It would be very generous if your teams take a look at the second blog and leave some comments there: https://kidblog.org/globalchangemakers2
Remember that the idea is that before starting the Christmas holidays (winter break) the pairs of teams should have started to decide the stories, and designed and drawn characters and backgrounds; this way when we reactivate the project in January they will be able to start programming with Scratch (remember to check that the Scratch usernames/passwords we sent you are working well). In your Dashboard (Stage 4) ) you will find ideas and resources to co-create storyboards, characters and backgrounds, but don’t hesitate to ask us any questions you may have.
Remember that you can share the work children are doing and also your educational resources with your partner through the “Resources” section, as well as you can share with the whole community in the Forum. We would love to see the children’s creations, so please share as much as you can!
In another message we will explain in detail the dynamics that we will use in Scratch. As we’ve told you several times before, if you’ve never used Scratch before, we can help you take the first steps, so don’t be afraid to ask us!
If you share in social networks what your kids are doing, please use the hashtag #GlobalChangemakers.
Best regards,
GlobalChangemakers Team
