TRAVELING STORIES

Hello families!

We are about to start a new project:TRAVELING STORIES. Be ready for when it arrives to your house! Every group has got a suitcase which travels around every family house. Thus, we can have and keep this suitcase for around 2 days at home.

This project is based on the idea to promote the reading in English and to work in its literature. It is very important to respect and take care of the book and every material that comes in the suitcase. With your support students are going to enjoy every book is in their way!

Thank you so much and have fun!

“Would Oliver Twist study in your school?”

In this project we’re dealing with Victorian times and why some children went to school, and why some children didn’t go to school.  Oliver Twist, a novel by Charles Dickens, exemplifies this situation.

In the English classes we are working on children labour during that time and we’re comparing it to our current situation.

Here you have a video of children lavour in Victorian times.

We also have seen that this situation has happened, and is still happening in some countries around the world. We have seen some examples but here is a new one:  KIMANI MARUGE, a man in Kenia who couldn’t go to school because he was poor and schools weren’t free. In 2003 there was a new law in kenia that regulated schools and they were free for everyone. Kimani Maruge went to school at the age of 84 because he wanted to be a vet and take care of his animals. That man was included in the book of records and later went to the United Nations to give a speak about the importance of FREE PRIMARY EDUCATION FOR ALL THE CHILDREN.
