He was born in the island of Feydem in Nantes, France, on 8th February 1828. He was the older of five children who had the marriage of Pierre Verne, who came from a family linked to the case (his grandfather was Louis XV’s notary adviser and chairman of the Bar of Nantes), and Sophie Allott Fuye, belonging to a military family.
Many biographers claim that in 1839, with eleven years old Jules ran away for a merchant who traveled to India called Coralie, with the intention of buying a pearl necklace for his cousin Caroline (who was in love), but his father reached the boat and took Jules.
Some of his works have been adapted to film.
Jules Verne (1828-1905), noted French scientific author wrote Around the World in Eighty Days (1873), Journey to the Center of the Earth (1864), and Twenty Thousand Leagues Under The Sea (1869);
