Descripció:

Aquesta tasca conté dues parts: Anàlisi d’objectes i creació de categories. Es fa en dues llengües.

PART A: ANÀLISI D’OBJECTES.

PART B: THE QUEST FOR LESS

Since the introduction of the EPA’s Reduce, Reuse, Recycle campaign, many have adopted recyclable waste management systems  and are becoming aware of their own ecological footprint. But we can always do more to consume less AND by re-using items in your home, save money.

So, before you throw those items away, think about how they can be reused. Bearing in mind the following statement, “One person’s trash is another person’s treasure”, it’s time for you to classify and categorise home items you think you can reuse by exchanging them with other eco-users.

Recursos:

  • Laptop & mobile phone
  • Go on using Popplet.com to classify your home items

Eines d’avaluació:

  • Rubric to assess the categorization of home objects taking into account that certain items can be placed in more than one grouping.

Temporització:

  • Two sessions: one to properly arrange objects and another to put in common the different groupings that have come up in the cooperative groups.

Gestió d’aula:

  • Students go on working in the cooperative groups they did before. First thing they need to do is to come up with General Categories (Labels) to place the objects they want to reuse & exchange.
  • Teacher suggests creating no more than ten groupings/popples as to simplify the classification process. For example, READING (Newspapers, Magazines & Books); CLOTHING (clothes, towels and bedding) & SHOES & ACCESSORIES (jewellery); FURNITURE (old and unneeded); ELECTRONICS; TOYS&GAMES (board and electronic); MUSIC (instruments and CDs & Vinyl); MOBILE PHONES (and accessories); SPORTS; OUTDOORS (garden and travel); COMPUTERS (software & hardware).
  • Then, students distribute the objects they have pointed out in each group. The more rigorous the classification, the more accurate the App will be.
