Digital Project: Mapping the Food Environment
Food environments have a major influence on public health and food security in a neighborhood. In this project, students will explore their food environment and create a presentation, including a map, to describe what they saw and learned.
Students can take a walk to explore the food environment or use an online map to gather information.
Digital Presentation Tool:
VoiceThread is the featured digital tool for Unit 2. Students can use this free online tool to create a narrated slideshow of their food environment. Students and teachers from all over the world to work and comment on slideshows collaboratively by adding pictures, videos and voice comments.
NOTE: Users can only have up to 5 VoiceThreads saved at a time with the free basic account.
Other options: Video, PowerPoint, Prezi, AdobeSpark, and even Microsoft Word could be used to create interesting presentations. Check the Digital Tools Page for links and ideas.
