My favourite writer

My most favorite writer is Stephen King.

Richard Bachman (as known as Stephen King) is a writer who writes horror novels more than any other types. He was born in Portland in 1947. I have to clarify that I love reading and, in fact, I don’t have a favorite writer, but I like him very much, so I’m going to write a little bit about this great horror writer from my point of view.

This man can transport you into the book instantaneously, you can lose the notion of time reading his incredible books, he can make you feel the way that the characters are feeling and he can also make you feel emotions that you wouldn’t experiment with other writers, and trust me when I say that all of this is not as easy as it seems and just a huge writer can reach it.

My favourite painter

My most favorite writer is Salvador Dalí.

Salvador Dalí was a surrealist painter, with influences and admiration from Renaissance. I like him because he was very imaginative and he had his own style, I mean, every painter’s got his own style, but when you see a paint from Dalí you can’t deny is his, it’s obvious.

I admire Dalí for his great imagination, everything he painted was from his mind and his dreams, he also painted ‘premonitions’, not like other painters who just paint landscapes or things they can see. I’m not saying they’re not good… of course they are! But what Dalí painted was more than a landscape, it was something from his soul and something that just he could completely understand.

Irish Coffee

COFFEE

I never drink coffee for the fact that I don’t like it, but when I go to my uncle’s house I like drinking Irish coffee, my uncle is a genius preparing it.

Irish coffee is prepared with whiskey, coffee and ice-cream or scum. It’s drunk cold.

It was created in Ireland.

The coffee

Normally I drink coffee in my house, but if some day my friends and I want to go to a coffee bar, often we choose “Papaxoc”.

It’s a place known for many people, because the installations are very nice and the service too. Also there  are many cakes, chocolates and sweets to choose and they aren’t too expensive.

There are many type of coffee. You can choose with milk or without, with scum, chocolate, with alcohol for  example to do Irish coffee, with condensed milk, vanilla, cinnamon, etc…

To do the coffee they bring it from tropical places like Africa or South America. When they gather it, they leave it to dry. Then it’s toasted and they her grind it. Then they prepare it as the client wants it.

My favorite coffee is this one: Mocha coffee. It’s made with whipped cream, steamed milk, chocolate and espresso. I really love all the combination. This coffee it’s perfect for the cold evenings of Lleida.

My favourite writer (January’s activity)

My favourite writer is Quim Monzó. He is a Catalan writer of novels, short stories and discursive prose born in 1952. He is very versatile because although he is a writer he can work for example in the TV or in the radio.. He is very original and his books are always fill of irony. I like Monzó because he has a very special style and you can laugh when you read he. The last book of Monzó that I read is “Guadalajara”, a very good book that has a lot of stories inside. I’d recommend this author.

Coffee (January’s activity)

I don’t like coffee. I am the only person in my family that I don’t like it. My parents say that when I will be adult I will like the coffee. May be.

This winter we bought a “Nespresso”, the popular machine to do coffee. All the family is very happy with this machine but I don’t enjoy. What I like is how the house smells of when they make coffee. For me it’s only good thing of the coffee.

I could say that I am a strange person for don’t drink coffee because in Catalona how in other countries people drink a lot of it.

My favourite painter (January’s activity)

My favourite painter is Miró. Joan Miró is a catalan painter born 1893. He did abstract art. I like his pictures because are very originals and are fill of colour, are simple but also beautiful. His pictures are very expensive because a lot of people want to buy one of his works.

In my country Miró is very famous and is recognised how a one of the greatest painters in the world.

Here I show one of his pictures more famous:

January’s activity (the coffee)

In my daily life I don’t use to drink so much coffee. Coffee is for me, the pleasure that only occasionally I want to experiment because I haven’t had this habit yet. I think most of the people cannot live without this pleasure, and they use to drink coffee every morning, midday… On the other hand, when I drink coffee I like to taste different flavors and combinations. One of them is the Irish Coffee. It’s required by some steps, but it’s easy to prepare.

First of all, you should put about two tablespoons of sugar in some hot water into a glass (this water may be very very HOT!). Then you have to put the magical essence, the Whisky! As the water is still very hot, you can leave a flame of fire with the lighter. After that, you might put the coffee very slowly and let it differentiate the different color of the coffee and of the whisky. This is a point that people wants to see and they really appreciate. So, it’s very important. For the end, the cream has to be put inside the coffee and a straw as well.

In my city there are many coffee shops. I often go to “Cañas y Tapas”. Actually this is more a restaurant than a coffee shop, but you can also spend the afternoon there with only a cup of coffee. In the summer, this place is really enjoyable due to two causes, one of them is because its terrace, in the summer there is very fresh, and the other cause is that it has a children park just straight on there. So, especially families like going there. My reason is very simple, it’s because I live close there and it’s very comfortable for me. So, here you have the picture, and now you know that when you are in Lleida you can come her e and taste the coffee, even if you want, I can prepare the Irish coffee for you.

Favourite painter

Actually I don’t know so much things about painters, but in my point of view, one of the most understandable is Dalí Domenech. He’s a Spanish surrealist painter borned in Figueres, Girona the 11th May 1904. Darí studied in the Escuela de Bellas Artes de San Fernando, in Madrid. Dalí’s production are inspired on Freud   theories: the representation of dream pictures and everyday objects in unexpected and surprising compositional forms. One example are the soft watches in “The Persistence of Memory” (1931). On the other hand, his technique is characterized by a meticulous drawing because he likes to specify the small datails with many visible colors.

As I told before, one of his works is “The Persistence of Memory”. I think Dalí wanted to show between this drawing that the greetings and the memories doesn’t go away never. Perhaps they can become blurred, but they will never be forgotten at all, because even we don’t like, they are somewhere inside us. Coming back to Dalí’s drawing I am able to say that the clocks are drawed for manifest the time, and obviously the time is the biggest symbol of memories, experiences…

January’s activity (favourite writer)

My favourite writer, or better said, the writer who I am going to show you is called Gemma Lienas. She is from Barcelona and she has written novels basically, although she writes other genres , too. Gemma Lienas is degree in philosophy and letters, and before she began writing, she had been teacher and editor. Her first published work is called “Cul de sac”, a young adult novel that appeared in 1986. However, she has made more works. One of the most famous and characterized is “Carlota”. Carlota is a character who has starred in some of the most successful books from this author. Other interesting novel is “Quiero ser puta” ( I want to be a bitch). This book has been translated into Germany, Italian….. And this is a model of book of her reflection of feminism. I think I like this author because her books talks about themes that teenagers can enjoy while reading. Her way of saying things is understandable and also her opinions are interesting. I read her book Bitllet d’anada i tornada, and I recommend it to everybody.
