La cançó ‘Nelson Mandela’, dels britànics Special AKA, va esdevenir una icona contra el racisme i l’apartheid, sobretot després del concert fet a l’estadi de Wembley l’any 1988 en ocasió del setantè aniversari de Mandela. Aquell concert es va retransmetre a tot el món i hi van participar també els Dire Straits, Eric Clapton, Peter Gabriel i Sting. Dos anys després, Nelson Mandela va ser alliberat.
