ABOUT THE PROJECT
Dear partners,
“IT FITS” aims to help our schools to create more balanced school plans taking into account Gardner’s Multiple Intelligence ideas. It offers eight ways of teaching and learning styles , eight “intelligences”:verbal-linguistic, musical-rhythmic, visual-spatial,logical-mathematical,bodily-kinesthetic, interpersonal, intrapersonal and naturalistic) but in our project we would like to add emphasis on creativity and memory too. To help this purpose we will include some small projects which aims to seize Project Based Learning* ideas and check how they “fit” in our project programming.
- students learning knowledge to tackle realistic problems as they would be solved in the real world
- increased student control over learning
- teachers serving as coaches and facilitators of inquiry and reflection
- students working in pairs or groups
*(PBL main ideas according to (Barron&Darling-Hammond, 2008; Thomas, 2000).
The real objective is not to share thousand of activities. With this project we want to change, little by little, the role of the teacher, the autonomy of our pupils and promote their critical thinking, even with younger pupils. .
PROJECT WORK
“It fits” consists of three parts.
The first one, to prepare the students to work in groups, activities to promote group cohesion, self-knowing and beginning a partners’ countries connection. Deepen on the idea of “intelligence” and their learning styles students will discuss and develop cooperative tasks. International meetings and videoconferences will help a real connection between the partner countries. In the second part our awareness about our strengths and weaknesses has grown and we have set the basis to start to work a project taking into account the Multiple Intelligences and transversally memory and creativity. Pupils can share their favourite MI Challenges“Do you dare…?”and try in teams some projects. Other partner projects or ideas , self assessment and dissemination ideas play an important role in the project too. Finally, the third part faces metacognitive skills, thinking strategies to learn, memorize and creating products (logos, mindmaps, experts groups) that lead to their best effective learning.
This project complements our Erasmus plus Ka1 “It fits! All the intelligences at school” opening it to other schools and different levels in Primary education. Concerning teachers, an active planning, feedback and evaluation is required. While programming we can use a google drive template to reflect on the activities done and become aware of the intelligences highlighted in every activity (and if possible add the missing intelligences to get a balanced school program.
AIMS
- Experience a multiple intelligence plan oriented to help student global integral education and adding to Gardner’s intelligences “ creativity” and “memory” (working on them transversally)
- Create a real partnership, a real collaboration between participants from different countries and cultures.
- Deepen a better understanding of themselves, their strengths and weaknesses
- Encourage self-discovery explore their skills, interests, learning strategies
- Learn to work cooperatively
- Involve our students in their own learning improving their autonomy and self-confidence

- Include some PBL (project based learning) ideas in our plan
- Present challenges and activities using different methodologies and specific materials designed to facilitate our students to learn from their path priority
- Build opportunities for assessment, reflection and critical thinking.
- Use technology as cognitive tools to help a meaningfully knowledge construction
- Influence the next environment, participate in society, encourage active families participation…
