An architectonical, financial and psychosocial overview about the prison in Tàrrega “El Plans”
Introduction
The aim of this report is to offer an overview taking into consideration two groups of informants
- Information given by the “Ajuntament of Tàrrega”.
- Information requested from six experts in Architecture, Economics and Social Psychology. All of them inhabitants of the “Comarca”.
Some recommendations will be suggested
Information from “Ajuntament of Tàrrega”
- Architectonic side
“Els Plans” is a group of buildings which form a square of ninety thousand square metres.
It will be situated in an angle of forty five degrees with regard to the A-road in order not to be seen like a long and continuous wall.
- Economic view
Work constructions may generate up to 800 job vacancies including sixty new “Mossos d’Esquadra”.
Politics have assured that the prison will become one of the most important enterprises in Tàrrega. It will augment the volume of profits of Tarraganian commerces as they will fully provide all necessities to “Els Plans”.
- Psychosocial side
The “Ajuntament of Tàrrega” said that the Center would not entail any social problem related to the citizens security. It would contribute to eradicate it thanks of the increase of “Mossos d’Esquadra”.
Information requested by the experts from the “Comarca”
After interviewing the group of experts, we found the following results:
- Architectonic side
The building is not enviromentally integrated and aesthetically unharmonic . Since the emplacement is in an agronomic area, it will negativelly impact on a rural scenary plenty of landscapes.
- Economic view
The experts have considered that in all senses the financial consequences will all be positive.
- Psychosocial side
Nowadays, after five years later, it seems that people living in Tàrrega are getting used to accepting the presence of the prison.
Population do not believe what politics have assured.
Conclusions
Since we have found some differences between politics and experts statements, we offer some recomendations.
Recommendations
Clearest information should be given by the Ajuntament of Tàrrega as the main representative of the Tarraganian commnunity interests.
If necessary, we suggest using a mediator as a professional capable to achieve one common point of view beetwen two groups of individuals.
