Axolotl

Hello, our names are Lleïr, Lucia S. and Alessia and today we are going to present an article about axolotls, I hope you like it

The axolotl is a species of caudate amphibian in the Ambystomatidae family. It is in critical danger of extinction due to lack of habitat, introduction of exotic fish, overexploitation, pollution and its consumption as food.

The axolotl has the appearance of a giant tadpole with legs and tail. It is characterized by having three pairs of gills, which come out from the base of its head and go backwards, small eyes, smooth skin and legs whose fingers are thin and pointed, but that do not develop nails.

Its diet is very varied and in free life includes small fish, fry and acociles, in captivity, they are commonly fed tubifex  worms, earthworms, brains, worms and small pieces of raw turkey, chicken or beef meat.

Its habitat is lakes or shallow water channels with lots of aquatic vegetation. It is a completely aquatic species.
