Freaky Science

This year we have already started a new project, its name is Freaky Science. It is enhanced in the PILE projects from the Departament d’Ensenyament. After some years of experience in two other innovative projects; one of them involving the early introduction of English in the first stages (4-5 years old) and the other working on self learning strategies in the Primary class (Levels 3 to 6), we observed that it was the moment to work with task based activities because our students needed to learn in a more global way and not just focusing on vocabulary.

In the current project there are two teachers of English involved as it is mainly thought for students from Levels 5 and 6. The main idea of the project is to help students learn from sharing their points of view, working together to reach the knowledge collaborating with each other, is what we call the teamwork. Our students work with different topics involving crosscurricular subjects such as social science, natural science, history, art…

We will work with the different abilities (listening, reading, writing, speaking) by using ICT tools (Interactive whiteboard,netbooks, computers…). We will introduce different computer programs in order to make oral presentations (PowerPoint, Comic Life…). There will be also some teamwork task based projects prepared by the teachers (webquests, treasure hunts…) or we will use some other already uploaded on the Internet (LIM, science clips, activities online…).
