In our virtual ship, there will be 4 teams, and each team is going to investigate about a different country. The countries of our project are:

 The tasks of our project are…

1- Individual worK: Read the blue questions (number 2)

2- Individual word: Read the information about the country you have chosen (webpages below) and answer these questions.

·How many inhabitants are there ?

·What is the surface area ?

·What are the colours of the flag ?

·Which is the currency?

·What interesting places can we visit ? (monuments, architecture, art…)

·What languages do they speak ?

·What kind of food do they eat?

·Which is the typical music?

·How is the weather like ?

3- With your group: Create a presentation using the drive and share all the information you have with your partners. Look for suitable images (at home)

4- Oral exposition in front of the rest of the class.

For the current English Day Event all the schools participating have decided to work on a unique song, which you, as students, will have to learn and sing at the end of the event.

Here are the songs that each team has chosen. What you have to do now is choose the one that you prefer, write it in a piece of paper and give it to your teacher before the end of this week.

After the poll, you’ll see and listen with your teacher the songs that your partners from the other schools in Viladecans have chosen and we will do a new votation in order to choose the song that will represent the English Day 2012-2013.

This year we have already started a new project, its name is Freaky Science. It is enhanced in the PILE projects from the Departament d’Ensenyament. After some years of experience in two other innovative projects; one of them involving the early introduction of English in the first stages (4-5 years old) and the other working on self learning strategies in the Primary class (Levels 3 to 6), we observed that it was the moment to work with task based activities because our students needed to learn in a more global way and not just focusing on vocabulary.

In the current project there are two teachers of English involved as it is mainly thought for students from Levels 5 and 6. The main idea of the project is to help students learn from sharing their points of view, working together to reach the knowledge collaborating with each other, is what we call the teamwork. Our students work with different topics involving crosscurricular subjects such as social science, natural science, history, art…

We will work with the different abilities (listening, reading, writing, speaking) by using ICT tools (Interactive whiteboard,netbooks, computers…). We will introduce different computer programs in order to make oral presentations (PowerPoint, Comic Life…). There will be also some teamwork task based projects prepared by the teachers (webquests, treasure hunts…) or we will use some other already uploaded on the Internet (LIM, science clips, activities online…).
