Types of humour:

• black humour: jokes about death and other serious issues
• cartoons: Tom and Jerry
• exaggeration: saying something is much more than it is (for comic effect in this context)
• farce: a series of things go wrong, and the situation gets funnier and funnier

• irony: not saying exactly what you mean, or saying the opposite of what you mean
• puns: word play humorous play on words;
  • “I do it for the pun of it”; “his constant punning irritated her”
• satire: laughing at politicians and “importan” people
• surreal: bizarre, very strange humour
