Artistic space

Hello!

My name is John and I was born and raised in Los Angeles, California, United States. I moved to Barcelona, Spain at the end of September to begin my work as a Cultural Ambassador at Escola Ginesta in Vilanova i la Geltrú. I am 23 years old and will be one year older this coming April! I studied universtiy at the Universtiy of California Santa Barbara, which is located on the coast, and is a beautiful beach town. My studies were in Sociology and I participated in many university organizations, conventions and conferences. My stay at Ginesta lasts from October 2010 until the end of May 2011 and consists of assisting English classes in various age groups (levels 4, 5, and 6). Ginesta is very special to not only have oral English classes, but also an Arts class conducted in English for its eldest students. I am very happy to be apart of this program and living in Spain. It is amazing what we can learn from children and highly enjoy being surrounded by smiles and laughter.

ENVIRONMENT AND ART. What’s the environment? It’s all we can see daily: streets, squares, houses, buildings,parks, forests, the beach and so on.There are pleasant things, like smelling  flowers, seeing a butterfly flying away, hearing a bird singing a beatiful song. Wow! But there are also some things not so pleasant, like a dirty forest .

In this unit we’re finding out many things about our environment, in Vilanova. We’ll create some PPT to show our city, and we’ll compare it with John’s city: Los Angeles.

This is the introductory session. It’s a film performed by “sisè A ” and “sisè B” students, John, the “auxiliar de conversa” from California, and Alicia, the art teacher. Have a look!
